The Organ Hall

In 1892, at the request of exiled Polish people Vyatskiy governor A.F. Anisin with the approval of the Minister of the Interior Affairs allowed local Catholics to open a house of worship.
The project to build a church in the name of St. Alexander in memory of the "Sovereign Emperor Alexander III» performed Warsaw architect K. Wojciechowski. Committee for the construction of a Catholic church offered to lead construction work to a young and talented architect I.A. Charushin. The opening of the church took place August 31, 1903. In 1933 due to the decision of the provincial administrative department the building lost its religious significance and for many years belonged to various organizations.

At the initiative of the regional department of culture and the Kirov State Museum in 1989, the building was given a restoration in order to create exhibition and concert hall of organ music. During the restoration works since 1991 to 1993, the church was returned to its original appearance. Concert hall itself has been completely renovated and decorated with new furniture, wrought-iron chandeliers and sumptuous stained glass.

On special request, in accordance with gorgeous acoustic data hall German company «HUGO MAYER» manufactured and installed a pipe organ. This relatively small instrument with two manual, 26 registers and 1538 pipes, has a rich sound spectrum and presents numerous opportunities for musical performances.

In the 20 years of its existence the Organ Hall visited many prominent Russian organists and musicians from Germany, Italy, France, Japan, China, Great Britain, Holland, Denmark. All artists have noted that the hall is one of the best halls in Russia in the acoustic solution.
